The Infection Preventionist is a vital member of our mission.
In this role you will be responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring and reporting of the spread of diseases in hospitals. Conducts, monitors and evaluates the CMC Infection Prevention surveillance program to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious diseases to patients, visitors, volunteers, physicians and employees. Works closely with the Director, Infection Prevention team and the rest of the CMC community to implement Infection Prevention policies, procedures and programs. Provides Infection Prevention education, conducts epidemiological investigations and recommends improvements. Serves as an Infection Prevention consultant to the CMC community. In conjunction with the Chairman of Infection Control Committee and in consultation with CMC Leadership, may institute any appropriate control measures, isolation procedures, or studies when there is an immediate infection risk to patients or personnel.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or field of specialty and three years related experience. Completion of basic course in Infection Control recognized by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) OR obtain within two years of hire.
Master’s degree in Nursing or field of specialty. Experience in Infection Prevention, Healthcare Education, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Employee Health or Public Health.
Current California RN license, valid State of California Pharmacist license or other applicable clinical license. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) upon hire OR within three years of employment.
