The Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Community Regional Medical Center is very vital in upholding the community's mission and vision. Being the only level one trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento, Community Regional Medical Center plays a very important role in saving critically injured and critically ill clients.
Having a 24 hour in house surgical coverage and a 24/7 OR capabilities, our PACU are staffed by highly trained nurses who are capable of caring for a large variety patients. Whether dealing with the simplest or the most complicated surgery, or caring for the youngest or the oldest patient, our PACU is equipped with state of the art equipment and resources.
The multi-cultural population we serve, the fast turnaround between postop patients, the different and unique personalities of our surgeons and anesthesiologists, and other different stressors we face every day call for multifaceted talents and skills in our staff. We have a team of highly competent nurses and staff who are committed to only give the highest level of care to our very diverse patient population here in the valley. Not including the traumas we receive and the unscheduled add on surgeries, we "recover" 50 OR cases on average daily.
Our 24 hour trauma recovery room has 16 beds, and our day surgery/ambulatory recovery room has 13 beds. To keep our staff informed and current with the ongoing changes in the medical practice, our nurses and surgical techs alike go through annual skills fair and weekly meetings. We also do special trainings and/or education as needed. If there is one great achievement we can mention, it is the versatility of our staff to adapt to any situation on a daily basis. It is important for our patients to know that we have highly trained, competent nurses and staff so that they can continue to count on CRMC to deliver the highest level of post anesthesia care.

In this role you will utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs for continuous assessment in the PACU. You will document and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing actions and ensure a safe environment of care. The PACU nurse is responsible and accountable for working with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
You will also be providing post-surgical education to patients, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment for the patient and monitoring the patient’s physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical care continuum
Monitoring patients for changes in status and indications of conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions ics.
Minimum requirements include; Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program. Current RN license for the state of California, BLS and ACLS certification within 6 months
