Responsibilities

The Interventional Radiology Technologists (IR-Technologist) is a specialized radiologic-technologist with post-primary training in Interventional Radiology. Works with proceduralists (Interventional Radiologist, Interventional Neurologists, Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Cardiologists...) as part of a procedural team to perform interventional procedures. Operates medical imaging equipment (single and bi-plane fluoroscopic angiographic equipment, Ultrasound, Intravascular Ultrasound IVUS) and assists with device management. The procedures range from routine diagnostic angiographic procedures to complex vascular, non-vascular-interventional, and therapeutic procedures.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED: Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology. Two years’ experience in Interventional Radiology.

PREFERRED: CT or MR experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED: Current BLS certification.

 

California Department of Public Health, Radiology Health Branch, Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).

 

California Department of Public Health, Radiology Health Branch, Fluoroscopy permit (CRTFP).

 

American Registry Radiologic Technologist, Vascular Interventional (ARRT VI), or Cardiac Interventional (ARRT CI), or Cardiac-Vascular Interventional *(ARRT CVI).
