The HIM Coding Educator is a vital member of our mission. In this role you are responsible for the training and continuing education of the HIM coding department.

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain Coding Education Program in the Health Information Management (HIM) Coding department.
  • Instruct all levels of HIM coding staff on the principles of accurate and compliant coding practices, principles, and guidelines.
  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 code assignment. Audit medical records to ensure coding accuracy.
  • Provide outcome reports and findings from coding audit reviews. Develop plan of correction or follow up as appropriate.
  • Act as a resource to provide coding education to Clinical Specialists and internal/external customers.



Minimum requirements: High School Diploma/GED Five years’ experience in all types of Medical coding. Work experience in the healthcare industry or a healthcare setting.

Minimum certification required: CCS Certification
