Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Clinician 1 provides comprehensive mental health and behavioral health services to patients and families within the inpatient behavioral health setting. Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, the Psychiatric Clinician 1 provides psychosocial and behavioral assessments, diagnostic evaluations, brief individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, treatment planning, care coordination, discharge planning, and community resource linkage.

 

The Psychiatric Clinician 1 participates in the clinical assessment and treatment of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, applying evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support stabilization, symptom management, and recovery. The role works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to monitor clinical response, contribute to treatment decisions, respond to psychiatric and behavioral crises, and support the safe and effective delivery of patient-centered psychiatric care.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Professional Clinical Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health discipline required

Experience

  • One (1) year of behavioral health, social work, care coordination, or related clinical experience required
  • Acute inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, hospital behavioral health, care coordination, and case management experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Fresno County 5150 Certification required within 4 months of hire or transfer into position
  • One of the following current and valid California registration is required within 4 months of hire or transfer into position: MUST BE REGISTERED with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
    • Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW)
    • Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)
    • Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)
