Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Information Systems (IS) Specialist is a critical infrastructure management position that develops and promotes Pharmacy Technology at Community Medical Centers including: development, building, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of Pharmacy Applications. Interacts with pharmacy and corporation staff to determine the appropriate formatting of all modules and reports. Assists in the development of staff education to appropriately educate all Pharmacy Services staff on the computer applications. Supports the mission and core values of Community Medical Centers through responsible and effective work performance.

  • Engagement in extra initiatives (e.g., performance improvement projects, system rollouts, or committee work beyond routine shifts).
  • Strong team player ready to transition into a technical/systems-focused role.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard schedule is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible start around 7:00 AM–3:30 PM). As an exempt role, candidates must be flexible to attend late-day meetings or complete ongoing project work when needed.

Example of a Daily Workflow: 

  • Handling work queues/trackers from pharmacy departments, ongoing medication file/system maintenance, active Epic project builds, upgrade reviews, and meeting with end-users. There may be changes based on business needs. 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required

 

Experience

  • Progressively responsible experience in pharmacy, computer applications of pharmacy practice including implementation and development of new computer systems, and providing staff education and development required

  • Must have recent inpatient or hospital pharmacy experience (ideally within the last 4 years).

  • Experience with Epic and Microsoft office tools (Primary work is in Epic, alongside general MS Office tools, such as Excel, Word, etc.).

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • RPH - Registered Pharmacist with valid State of California Pharmacist License required
