The Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist will play an integral role in the monitoring and management of Emergency Department patients. The individual will serve as a key member of the Emergency Medicine Service, providing clinical support and teaching to physicians and other health care providers. The Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for education and mentorship to clinical staff pharmacists, PGY1 residents, and pharmacy students. Other responsibilities include participation and leadership in pharmacy-related quality improvement initiatives as well as policy and/or guideline development and formulary management.
The Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist will provide delivery of pharmaceutical care, daily monitoring of Emergency Department patients, medicine reconciliation, documentation of interventions, drug information, quality assurance review of drug utilization throughout the hospital for various medical staff committees and the department.
Doctorate of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D). 1 year Pharmacy Residency Program or 2 years of Emergency Medicine Pharmacy work experience. However, we prefer to have a candidate that has completed or will be completing a PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency. Valid State of California Pharmacist license. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
