Responsibilities

Conducts evaluations of patient needs and abilities regarding recreational therapy and provides a variety of recreational and leisure activities to patients in order to meet goals and improve rehabilitative efforts.

 

Essential Accountabilities
• Conducts patient evaluations/assessments to determine impact of illness or injury on ability to participate in recreational and
leisure activities.
• Develops individual treatment plans as part of the interdisciplinary plan, to meet desired therapeutic recreational goals.
• Implements individual treatment plan.
• Prepares reports and evaluates patient's functional level, personal resources and progress.
• Reports patient information and progress to medical staff and other members of the rehabilitation team, consults as necessary.
• Plans, organizes and provides community outings and group activities for patients as appropriate.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences to support interdisciplinary treatment plan, facilitate patient scheduling and provide staff education.
• Identifies community resources and referrals.
• Provides input to discharge planning as appropriate.
• Assists in directing and coordinating intern/student/volunteer education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration with emphasis in therapeutics required

Licenses and Certifications
• CBRPC - California Board of Recreation and Park Certification required or
• CTRS - Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist required
