Responsibilities

The RN Residency Coordinator serves as the program director for the RN nursing residency, managing the development, delivery, and evaluation of the program to provide new graduate nurses with structured, high-quality education and support during their transition into clinical practice. The coordinator designs and maintains curriculum materials, facilitates learning activities, guides preceptors, and oversees resident competency verification while ensuring all program components meet accreditation, regulatory, and organizational standards. The role also manages program documentation, collects, and analyzes performance data, and supports budgeting and administrative processes. The coordinator collaborates closely with nursing leadership, clinical educators, Human Resources, and academic partners to align program content with organizational priorities and evidence-based practice. This role contributes to continuous program improvement through outcome evaluation, survey analysis, and accreditation preparation, serving as the CHS lead during ANCC PTAP reviews and virtual site visits. Through mentorship, coaching, and educational support, the coordinator strengthens resident readiness, enhances program consistency, and promotes the organization's culture of nursing excellence.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field required

 

Experience

  • 5 years of clinical/education experience required
  • Experience with ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) or other nursing residency accreditation process preferred

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • ANCC-NPDBC - ANCC Nursing Professional Development Certification required within 2 years of hire or transfer into position
