We're looking for Patient Care Techs to join our growing team! Working under the supervision of a licensed clinical staff member, you will provide both primary patient care and clerical support per your unit goals and Community Health System standards. From performing and assisting with various aspects of patient care such as nutrition, intake/outtake, taking vital signs, including providing office management support to your unit  — you will serve as a centralized focus of administration, information and communication. Responsibilities

The primary focus of this position is to transport patients to and from Endoscopy and Surgery for their procedures. In addition to transport duties, this is a Patient Care Technician (PCT) role, and team members assist with direct patient care when not engaged in transport activities. This position is essential to maintaining the flow and efficiency of all surgical services on weekends, ensuring timely patient movement and support for clinical staff. We are looking to fill this position promptly.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Transporting patients safely to and from procedural areas (Endoscopy, Surgery, etc.)

  • Delivering basic patient care under the direction of an RN/LVN

  • Performing and assisting with routine patient care tasks such as:

    • Bed scale weights and intake/output measurements

    • Hygiene and dressing

    • Turning and ambulation

    • Safely performing or assisting with inpatient lifts, transfers, moves, positioning, and ambulation in coordination with the patient care team

 

Qualifications

Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Successful completion of one of the following is required
o Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
o Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program
o Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Paramedic program
o Enrollment in, or completion of, an accredited clinical RN or LVN program
 
Experience
  • 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital preferred
  • Must have at least 6 months hospital experience.
 
 
Licenses and Certifications
  •  BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
 
• One of the following is required
o CNA - State of California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (active or inactive status is acceptable)
o EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
o AEMT - Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
o PARAMEDICC - Paramedic Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
o Enrollment in, or completion of, an accredited clinical RN or LVN program
