Located in downtown Fresno, Community Regional Medical Center is the region’s flagship hospital and home to the only Level I Trauma Center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. As a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) on our cardiac surgery team, you’ll be part of a 40-member team — including three RNFAs — supporting procedures across Community Regional, Clovis Community, and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital. 

• Provide intraoperative support under the direct supervision of the surgeon, assisting with surgical exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions to ensure optimal outcomes. 

• Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons and multidisciplinary teams on more than 100 cardiac surgery cases each month, helping uphold excellence, sterile technique, and evidence-based best practices. 

• Function as a Scrub or Circulating Nurse when not serving as RNFA, maintaining readiness to assist with cases across all three campuses. 

• Contribute to operational efficiency by anticipating surgeon and patient needs while fostering a culture of safety, precision, and teamwork.

Education & Experience  

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Physiology, Healthcare or related field required 

• Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the Association of Perioperative RN (AORN) standards required 

• Credentialed by the CHS Medical Staff Office as an Allied Health Professional and privileged to perform RN First Assistant standardized procedures required 

• 1 year of relevant experience required 

Licenses and Certifications  

• RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required 

• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required 

• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 180 days of hire or transfer into position 

• CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse from the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) required
