With 685 beds, we are home to the only comprehensive Burn and Level I Trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. The 56,000 square-foot emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in California! We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand pediatric specialty care. Our hospital serves 2.5 million people within 9 counties, averaging a daily census of 641 patients. We're affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility; trained 3,000 Medical Doctor's to date plus continuous invests in research and training grants.

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Senior Buyer and Analyst is responsible for all standard Pharmacy Buyer duties, with an emphasis on advanced pharmaceutical and supply purchasing from a primary central role, while also supporting facility-specific procurement needs. This role conducts billing work queue reviews and charge capture analysis, documents processes and technical requirements, and contributes to system planning and vendor selection for pharmacy billing applications. Additionally, the Senior Buyer-Analyst provides mentorship to junior staff and supports monitoring and compliance efforts related to the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
 
Accountabilities
 
1. Performs advanced centralized purchasing to support pharmacy procurement across all inpatient and outpatient settings. Maintains ability to perform local pharmacy buyer duties. Provides coverage and support for local buyer responsibilities as needed.
2. Performs advanced medication charge capture and billing analysis across pharmacy billing work queues. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle to maintain the charge master and develop new charge codes in response to regulatory changes and emerging services.
3. Develops and maintains systems and procedures to assure ongoing regulatory compliance for pharmacy billing applications.
4. Implements and optimizes use of cost management and purchasing software; trains staff to enhance procurement efficiency.
5. Participates in vendor business reviews and contributes to purchasing strategy and contract performance assessments.
6. Collaborates with the Inventory Control and Medication Utilization teams to organize and maintain facility specific reserved stock medication storage locations for strategic drug shortage mitigation and fast-moving inventory needs.
7. Supports 340B split-billing system maintenance, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
8. Maintains procurement documentation and reviews invoices; assists with reconciling supplier payments and end-of-month cost transfer processes.
9. Provides training and mentorship to junior buyers and inventory technicians in procurement and billing processes.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Completion of 340B University coursework required within 90 days of hire or transfer
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or related field preferred
 
Experience
• 2 years purchasing and/or inventory control experience in a healthcare setting required
• Prior experience with 340B Program, billing operations, and data analysis preferred
 
Licenses and Certifications
• RXTECH - State of California Pharmacy Technician License required
• 340B ACE - Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate or equivalent certification preferred
