The Medical Assistant (MA) Quality Coordinator supports clinical excellence by providing training, coaching, and performance oversight to Medical Assistants across designated outpatient clinics. The role helps build high-functioning care teams by standardizing clinical practices, monitoring performance, and reinforcing quality and regulatory standards. Serving as a subject matter expert and resource for clinical workflows, competency development, and continuous quality improvement, the MA Quality Coordinator plays a key part in ensuring consistent, patient-centered care. This position requires regular travel between clinic locations and flexibility in scheduling to meet training and operational needs.
Accountabilities
1. Delivers onboarding and ongoing education for Medical Assistants to ensure clinical competency and consistency.
2. Evaluates MA performance through observation, audits, and feedback to identify training needs and support continuous improvement.
3. Collaborates with clinical leadership to develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures, workflows, and competency tools.
4. Verifies proficiency in core clinical tasks, including vital signs, patient rooming, immunizations, specimen collection, and documentation.
5. Reinforces compliance with infection control practices, safety protocols, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).
6. Supports the rollout and adoption of clinical quality initiatives, including chronic disease management, preventive care, and patient experience enhancements.
7. Conducts skill-building sessions, in-services, and refresher trainings on key clinical and operational topics, such as EHR use and patient interaction.
8. Acts as a clinical resource for Medical Assistants, addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and promoting best practices across clinics.
9. Maintains records of training activities, competency assessments, and quality metrics for reporting to leadership.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
