Responsibilities

This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring onsite presence on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with work-from-home on Tuesday and Thursday. The standard work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

 

The Benefits Administrator supports, coordinates and administers Community Medical Centers' (CMC) benefit programs across the system. Responsible for maintaining and updating benefit records within the human resource information system (HRIS), verifying and administering all benefit billing, collection and adjustment processes, verifying employee eligibility through open enrollment, new hire and major life event windows, and working with various benefit vendors / partners. In addition, the benefits administrator will be a first point of contact for all CMC employees on benefit questions and will present benefit information during new hire orientation and open enrollment.

 

  • Assists employees in the enrollment of benefits during open enrollment, new hire, and major life event windows. Identifies any potential improvements needed during the various windows and works with the Benefits Department leadership to implement any necessary changes.
  • Validates that all benefit elections are accurate and entered into the appropriate HRIS system(s).
  • Works with the HRIS department to ensure that benefits systems and processes are functioning as expected and addresses any issues as they arise.
  • Monitors the performance of all benefit plans and assists in the correction of identified problems with employees.
  • Ensures benefit plans are administered within plan guidelines and are in compliance with changing laws and regulations. Makes recommendations for appropriate modifications to Summary Plan Descriptions, Employee Handbook, benefit policies and the benefits home page on the forum.
  • Processes any discrepancy reports after files are applied by the vendor and works with IS if there are any eligibility file transfer issues that may arise.
  • Maintains and administers the master billing lists and invoices, payment reimbursements / corrections, vendor claims and the employee death processes.
  • Serves as the primary contact for all CMC employees on questions or concerns related to benefits. Responds in a timely manner to all forms of communication (phone, email, fax and walk-ins) and assists in resolving problems.
  • Maintains and processes accurate monthly leave of absence invoicing and payment processing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred

 

Experience

 

  • 5 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Benefits Administration required
  • Prior work experience in Benefits Administration and in the healthcare, industry preferred
  • Presentation experience and experience with explanation of benefit programs will be key (medical, dental, vision, FSA, Life Insurance and Supplemental programs, tuition reimbursement/certification reimbursement, etc.). 
  • Experience with leave of absence benefits coordination with invoicing and billing.
  • Experience with reconciling benefits billing
  • General billing/AP software experience processing approvals and tuition reimbursements.
  • Workday experience is a plus. 
  • Experience working with Lawson.
