Responsibilities

The LVN EHR Educator is responsible for maintaining the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, providing comprehensive training on its use, and ensuring proper system utilization and clinical documentation across all departments. This role supports staff in optimizing workflows, enhancing data accuracy, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Educator collaborates with leadership and end-users to develop training programs, troubleshoot system issues, and implement best practices for documentation and EHR utilization.
 
Accountabilities
 
1. Develop, coordinate, and evaluate facility-specific training and a comprehensive orientation program for new and existing staff, including super users.
2. Build, test, and maintain an updated EHR training environment.
3. Create and update training materials such as tips sheet, quick reference material, manuals, and video tutorials to support training efforts.
4. Create and maintain system access profiles based on job roles and monitor for unauthorized use.
5. Responsible for onboarding new team members with EHR education and completing the EHR orientation workbook with each team member.
6. Assess the training needs before, during, and after each class for each individual.
7. Facilitate the adult learning process by integrating the principles of adult learning into learning activities by conducting one-on-one and group training sessions ensuring staff members are proficient in system navigation and entry.
8. Provide additional courses and targeted training sessions based on identified knowledge gaps or system updates.
9. Continuously identifies areas of opportunity for improvement in curriculum development and technology to improve end-user education.
10. Update the EHR curriculum and/or workbook as process or system changes occur.
11. Maintain expertise in documentation in all departmental workflows.
12. Collaborate with the facility’s leadership, super users, informatics team and other subject matter experts in ensuring delivery of accurate and effective training.
13. Participate in planning meetings with the education team to identify educational and development opportunities.
14. Develop, review, and revise specific policies/procedures to maintain best practice with documentation. Educate staff and monitors for compliance with state and federal regulations.
15. Conduct chart audits to assess documentation quality and identify areas for improvement.
16. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nursing School program OR become licensed by equivalency required
• Associate's Degree in a Healthcare or Technology related field preferred
 
Experience
• 2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting required
• Experience working with an EHR system (e.g., PointClickCare) preferred
• Experience in patient and staff education development and implementation, quality improvement, program development and professional development preferred
 
Licenses and Certifications
• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
• LVN - Current State of California Licensed Vocational Nurse License required
