    VP, Medical Education and Research, Full Time

     

    Are you ready to play a large part in the future of healthcare in the California Central Valley as VP, Medical Education and Research? In this position, you will oversee Community Medical Centers’ (CMC) Medical Education Program and research activities; the largest program in the Valley. You will benefit the health of Valley residents through evaluation and establishment of programs that address community needs.

     

    CMC is home to the only Level 1 trauma center within an 115,000 square mile service area, thus the preponderance of services provided are emergency, primary, burn-related, and NICU. About 550 patients each month are transferred to Community’s downtown hospital, Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC), from other hospitals in the region for a higher-level of care.

     

    This position has financial and logistical oversight of multiple graduate and undergraduate medical education programs.  The largest of these programs is the UCSF-Fresno Medical Education Program with over 250 residents in nine specialties and more than 50 fellows in 17 sub-specialties.  Current research activity at CMC facilities includes 340 open, ongoing studies.  Research is expected to grow with the recent opening of Community Cancer Institute.

    Responsibilities

    Extensive knowledge and background is medical education and research is the starting point for this position.  Political savviness is essential to be able to collaborate in a large, fast-paced and ever changing system. Understanding and managing resident/fellow time requirements and CMS documentation rules is required.  Data analysis and use to make informed decisions, prepare budgets and strategize for the future will be paramount.  A thorough understanding of research methodology and human research protection is also required.

    Qualifications

    Experience and education minimum requirements:

    • MD, DO, PhD, EdD or Juris Doctorate degree.
    • Five (5) years of experience in graduate medical education.
    • Extensive knowledge of graduate medical education requirements, both basic and specialized, and applicable software.

    Preferences

    • Post-graduate degree in healthcare administration or public health, or MBA.
