    The Workstation Engineer 2  is a vital member of our mission.

    In this role you will be responsible for Providing onsite technical hardware and software support, maintenance and repair services for CMC staff, physicians and affiliates. Services include the installation of hardware, software and peripheral devices; repair and upgrade of hardware and software; troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems; preventative and other maintenance of hardware devices; inventory duties and documentation of work performed.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide hardware services on personal computers, printers, other hardware and peripheral devices. Hardware services include installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, correction, assessment, replacement, preventative and other maintenance, relocations and reconnections. May also participate in researching new hardware, product evaluations and recommendations.
    • Provide software services either independently or collaboratively with second/third level support staff. Software services include installation, configuration, upgrade, troubleshooting, diagnostics, correction and testing. May also participate in researching new technology, product evaluation and recommendation, standards development or other advanced duties.
    • Provide network support services including installing, testing, troubleshooting, diagnostics and correction of network cabling, communications equipment, software, protocols, profiles, active directory and other administrative functions as directed and in collaboration with second/third level network support staff.
    • Demonstrate analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills on assigned work. Make effective use of tools and resources. Apply “big picture” thinking and proactive steps to resolve problems and prevent their recurrence. Utilize appropriate troubleshooting methodologies (identify, replicate, isolate, gather information, test, repair and document).
    • Accurately perform inventory services including removal, receiving, testing, evaluation, preparing for retirement/donation and facilitating repair of equipment, maintaining equipment loaner pool, stock items and stock/storage area, and documentation of activities in accordance with established procedures. May also prepare reports as needed.
    • Provide excellent customer service through effective communication, service delivery as promised or better and that all services are provided in a timely, complete, courteous and professional manner. Complete assigned work as scheduled. Ensure that a service card is left for all visits and maintains a customer satisfaction rating of at least 3 out of 5. Serve as a customer service role model for the team.
    • Follow CMC, CIS and department policies, procedures and standards. Comply with applicable laws and regulations (ie HIPAA, JCAHO). May assist in policy and standard development, training and implementation.
    • Foster teamwork, communication and collaboration among the team. Regularly share knowledge, information and resources. Contribute documents to the team knowledge base. Demonstrate efforts to enhance skills of entire team.
    • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. May have a lead or coordinating role and/or participate in larger and more complex projects.

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum required:

    High School Diploma/GED. Two years of onsite technical hardware/software support or 3 years technical hardware/software support. Ability to perform a considerable amount of walking and standing; lift, push and pull objects up to 50 pounds and reach, bend and work in awkward positions. Ability to remain professional, composed and analytical with customers under trying circumstances. Ability to meet minimum productivity and performance standards after first 2 months. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new programs and technologies. Able to work independently and productively, with minimal direction or direct supervision.
